Review: Wow, I really, really wanted to love this film. I had mixed expectations going in. On one hand, I expect children vs. style typical Spielberg film type monster on the other hand, I was disappointed by Abrams forward with Cloverfield.So for the first three quarters of the animation , I actually enjoy the journey. At least this time, Abrams was able to make the characters we can care about. I could suspend my disbelief and go along, despite many problems with physical endurance. As the story continues, unexplained bits and pieces of the plot began to wear thin.Basically, if you read the negative reviews on this site, you will see the problems with this film, a complete rehashing of the many stereotypes Spielberg, plural? awkward problems continued, and poor exposure of the plot and so on. I could have overlooked most of these are for the positives, if werent for ending.The rest of the movie in particular always pretty big production values, developing character and feel of a big old monster movie time of the 50s I was having fun until it reaches the end. They just would not take all the elements of plot overall is satisfactory. Worse, finally fell completely flat. Where there should be some tension building with good climatic scene somehow over, plop, that's it, they do not really understand the trend with unsatisfying.I filmmakers like Abrams, Shyamalan and others these days. There is a tendency to have characters with strong stories, but artificial, where the exposure of the plot is so small and turned it difficult to develop an emotional bond with them really. Then, it is hard to tell where some of their motivation comes from. In the end, these characters act in ways that seem inappropriate in the circumstances. Anyway, I just tire with this kind of half-assed storytelling. The guys need to look a little classic Hitchcock, Lumet, Reiner and so on, and get advice on development.Bummer plot and character, he was so close to being tre, s good film, if not great, 'I just need a better story and a decent finish.
