Review: I was lucky enough to snag tickets to see Black Swan at the Toronto International Film Festival. GOOD: Acting Natalie Portman was perfection - definitely Oscar worthy performance. Sure, much of it was taken out of Swan Lake, but I loved that they were able to incorporate music throughout the movie and not just the ballet scenes. Sure, it was beautifully shot and the plot was amazing - I was drawn in from beginning to end. The audience got to see a new side of ballet / theater that does not often appear in popular movies - fight performer faces undertake and complete functions. The struggle between good and evil out in a methodical and exciting ways. BAD: Many parts of this movie felt like it had a horror trip. Some parts definitely made me jump or crawl (which I did not expect). The film was also an emotional roller coaster, which was fine at first, but this emotional roller coaster kind of drag on to the point that it almost Fighter NDEs as it was too much. I just think it could have been trimmed down a notch. I thought that most of the movie was wonderful, and I recommend it.

Review: Wow, I really, really wanted to love this film. I had mixed expectations going in. On one hand, I expect children vs. style typical Spielberg film type monster on the other hand, I was disappointed by Abrams forward with Cloverfield.So for the first three quarters of the animation , I actually enjoy the journey. At least this time, Abrams was able to make the characters we can care about. I could suspend my disbelief and go along, despite many problems with physical endurance. As the story continues, unexplained bits and pieces of the plot began to wear thin.Basically, if you read the negative reviews on this site, you will see the problems with this film, a complete rehashing of the many stereotypes Spielberg, plural? awkward problems continued, and poor exposure of the plot and so on. I could have overlooked most of these are for the positives, if werent for ending.The rest of the movie in particular always pretty big production values, developing character and feel of a big old monster movie time of the 50s I was having fun until it reaches the end. They just would not take all the elements of plot overall is satisfactory. Worse, finally fell completely flat. Where there should be some tension building with good climatic scene somehow over, plop, that's it, they do not really understand the trend with unsatisfying.I filmmakers like Abrams, Shyamalan and others these days. There is a tendency to have characters with strong stories, but artificial, where the exposure of the plot is so small and turned it difficult to develop an emotional bond with them really.
