Review: Despite what some may see as limited by technical shortcomings and / or overly simplified plot, Taxi Driver deserve the critical reputation of the film masterpiece. Some 23 years later, the existential plight of Travis Bickle, a lonely man of God, remains a pack emotional punch hard. In fact, it's hard to know where to start when praising parts of the film - factors like the shot in a dark place (now gone), a seedy Times Square, the film vérité institutions cabbies and the campaign workers, a beautiful score by Bernard Hermann, Paul Schraders a great script, memorable performances Jodie Foster, Harvey Keitel, Peter Boyle, and all should be mentioned. But the brilliance of this film is primarily a result of the brilliance of De Niro and Scorsese, one of the greatest actor-director teams in the history of cinema. It is an unforgettable film and taxes 10 10, in my estimation.
